Prices of Liposuction

The prices of liposuction surgery take many factors into consideration. Assuming everything else is equal and relative to the cosmetic surgery market of the particular geographical location, the number of areas to be treated as well as the particular area on the body being treated will play a major role in determining the final price. The amount of fat in the area also matters since it really comes down to how much time and effort is required of the surgeon performing the procedure. It is not uncommon for a clinic to charge less for multiple treatment areas beyond the initial because of the efficiency in treating multiple areas in one session.

Liposuction Fees

There are many fees and charges that will make up the cost of liposuction. Beyond the surgeon fee and anesthesia fee, which is the cost of the numbing drug, there are additional fees such as the use of the facility and equipment. There may also be charges for the compression garment worn after surgery, the blood and other laboratory tests before the surgery, and any post-surgery treatment the doctor might prescribe to enhance results. The amount of fat to be removed affects the price in obvious ways. Usually, larger treatment areas contain more fat which is why they generally will cost more. Liposuction is a slow procedure and more fat to be removed will mean more time invested into the procedure.

Male Liposuction Prices

In general, the cost for male liposuction patients will be higher than women receiving similar treatment. There are a number of reasons for this generalization beginning with the fact that men in general are larger in size than women. Larger sized areas, as we already know, tend to contain more fat and therefore are larger procedures requiring more time and raising costs.

There is also a biological explanation to the cost discrepancy between men and women patients as well. The fat cells of men after naturally more fibrous than women. This means they are tougher and require extra effort to break down. But in addition to already having overall tougher fat cells, the areas of the body where men most frequently request treatment contain the most fibrous fat cells whereas women patients will request treatment to all parts of the body. This is probably because men can lose fat relatively easily in areas such as the arms and legs. The toughest areas, and most popular for male patients, are the breast or chest, the abdomen, and the back.

Price Estimates

It is important to discuss the details of pricing with the surgeon during the initial consultation session. Make sure the estimate is inclusive of all charges that are expected to be incurred so that there are no unpleasant surprised after the surgery is done and the bill arrives. A good surgeon will also suggest alternative procedures or techniques that might lower the price of liposuction for their patient.

Los Angeles Liposuction Prices

Here is an approximate cost of liposuction at one Los Angeles plastic surgery location to give you an idea of how much you can expect to pay for laser liposuction. The cost of liposuction varies depending on the numbers of areas treated, the amount of extra fat expected to be removed, and whether or not liposuction has been already performed in the area. Abdomen and flanks ranges from $5,500 to $10,000. Arms and outer chests will costs around $4,500 to $7,500. Entire thigh is from $6,000 to $12,000. Neck and face is priced around $2,800 to $5,000. But many places in Los Angeles of comparable reputation will charge around these prices plus or minus fees here and there.

Keep in mind that large areas like the thigh, tummy, or hips are not usually serviced with laser liposuction procedures although it can be done to small areas within those larger areas. Laser liposuction is usually $200 to $300 less than the traditional procedure but remember that traditional liposuction will do larger areas and laser liposuction will do smaller areas so the prices are a little inflated.
